Makali Mulu Outlines Vision for Kitui County During Utepeni Kitui Debate

Makali Mulu has outlined his vision for the future of Kitui County, emphasizing the need for strong leadership, transparency, and improved service delivery across key sectors.

Speaking during the Utepeni Kitui debate organized by Radio Citizen on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Kitui Multipurpose Hall, the Kitui Central legislator said the county requires firm leadership and financial accountability to unlock its development potential.

Mulu, who has declared interest in the Kitui gubernatorial seat in the 2027 general election, stated that strengthening transparency in public finance management would help boost crucial sectors such as agriculture, health, and education.
The MP further noted that the ongoing rains present a golden opportunity for farmers across the county. He urged the county government to effectively manage water and land resources to ensure long-term food security.

“If properly managed, the current rains can significantly boost agricultural production and improve livelihoods for many households,” Mulu said, adding that proper planning in water and land management is essential for sustainable farming.

He also pledged that if elected governor in 2027, his administration would ensure citizens are fully involved in development decisions. According to him, public participation, transparency, and accountability would be central pillars in improving social services across the county.

The debate also brought together several leaders including Paul Nzengu and Kitui County Executive Committee members led by Mbaya Kimwele.

During the forum, leaders and residents engaged in detailed discussions on development priorities and the challenges facing the people of Kitui County, with participants calling for practical solutions to accelerate growth and improve the welfare of citizens.
