MALOMBE: KITUI REVENUE SOARS TO KSH1.2B AS PENDING BILLS DROP BY 82.5%

‎Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has highlighted a major improvement in the county’s financial management, with own-source revenue rising sharply while pending bills have significantly declined.

‎The county’s own-source revenue increased from KSh361 million in the 2021/22 financial year to KSh1.2 billion in 2025/26, reflecting stronger revenue collection and improved financial discipline under the Malombe administration.

At the same time, Kitui’s pending bills dropped by 82.5 per cent to KSh449 million, easing pressure on the county’s finances and creating more room for the implementation of development programmes.

Governor Malombe said the gains demonstrate the county government’s commitment to strengthening its financial systems and ensuring that public resources are properly managed.

He said the county will, during the final year of his administration, further strengthen revenue collection, improve financial management and ensure timely financing of county programmes and projects.

‎Governor Malombe noted that increasing the county’s ability to raise its own revenue is critical to reducing dependence on external funding and ensuring that essential services and development projects continue to reach residents across the 40 wards.

‎The governor said the administration remains focused on consolidating the gains made since 2022 and leaving behind a stronger and more financially stable county government.
