Healthcare transformation in Kitui County continues to take shape under the steadfast leadership of Julius Malombe, as the county government strengthens diagnostic services at the Kitui County Referral Hospital.
Speaking during an update on the hospital’s progress, Chief Officer for Drugs and Medical Supplies, Aggrey Mutinda Kamba, revealed that the facility has successfully installed a new state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine. The machine, which became operational last week, is already making a significant impact, serving more than 100 patients daily.
Kamba attributed the milestone to Governor Malombe’s deliberate focus on prioritizing healthcare as a key pillar of his administration. He noted that the governor has consistently invested in modern medical equipment and improved infrastructure to ensure residents access quality and affordable healthcare services closer to home.
“This is a major boost to our diagnostic capacity. Since its installation, the digital X-ray machine has been handling over 100 patients per day, significantly reducing waiting time and improving service delivery,” Kamba said.
In another major breakthrough, the chief officer announced that the hospital’s mammogram machine has been fully restored and is now operational. He disclosed that more than 200 patients have already benefited from the mammography services since its reinstatement.
The revival of the mammogram services marks a crucial step in the fight against breast cancer, aligning with Governor Malombe’s broader healthcare agenda of enhancing early detection and preventive care. By restoring the machine, the county government has eased the burden on patients who previously had to travel outside Kitui in search of specialized diagnostic services.
Kamba urged residents, especially women, to take advantage of the available services and undergo breast cancer screening. Early detection, he emphasized, remains the most effective way to combat the disease.
“We encourage mothers and all women across the county to come out in large numbers for breast cancer screening. The services are available, and early testing can save lives,” he said.
He further reassured residents that the Kitui County Referral Hospital is well-equipped and capable of offering quality medical care, urging them to disregard misinformation from critics.
“Our referral hospital is among the best in the region. Residents should not listen to naysayers but instead have confidence in the improved services now available under Governor Malombe’s leadership,” Kamba affirmed.
The latest developments underscore Governor Malombe’s unwavering commitment to transforming the health sector, positioning Kitui County as a model for accessible, efficient, and patient-centered healthcare services.
