Kitui gubernatorial candidate Hon. Nicholas Mulila has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming education across the county after delivering a fully furnished science laboratory to Kyukuni Senior School, ending years of hardship for students who lacked access to practical science facilities.
The modern laboratory, which is fully equipped for science practical lessons, is expected to significantly improve the quality of learning at the school and enhance students’ performance in national examinations.
For years, students of Kyukuni Senior School were forced to walk more than 10 kilometres to Kyamatu Senior School to conduct compulsory science practicals due to the absence of a laboratory. The challenge not only consumed valuable learning time but also exposed learners to unnecessary difficulties.
Expressing their gratitude, students described the new facility as a life-changing investment in their education.
“We used to walk over 10 kilometres from Kyukuni Senior School to Kyamatu Senior School just to undertake our science practicals. Today, that long journey is over. We finally have our own fully equipped science laboratory. This is a dream come true for us. Thank you, Nicholas Mulila, for hearing our need and standing with us when we needed support most,” said one of the students.
Teachers and parents also praised Mulila for responding to the school’s urgent needs, saying the laboratory will create a better learning environment and inspire more students to pursue science-related careers.
The initiative further strengthens Hon. Nicholas Mulila’s reputation as a strong champion of education, with many residents applauding his belief that investing in schools is the surest way of empowering future generations.
As he continues engaging communities across Kitui County, Mulila has consistently maintained that every child deserves access to quality education and modern learning facilities regardless of where they live, promising to make education one of the key pillars of his development agenda.
