Nearly 400 young people from Emali/Mulala Ward have benefitted from a transformative soft skills training programme aimed at boosting their employability and self-development. The event, held at Kwa Kakulu Springhill CTTI, was organized by the First Lady of Makueni County, Her Excellency Anita Mutula, through the Anita Mbinya Foundation (AMF), in partnership with BrighterMonday Kenya.
The training focused on enhancing essential soft skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence key attributes required in today’s dynamic job market.
Speaking during the event, the First Lady encouraged the youth to make good use of the knowledge acquired to not only improve their own livelihoods but also contribute positively to their communities.
“You now have the skills to stand out in a competitive job market. I urge you to put them into action and be agents of change in your society,” said Mrs. Mutula.
Each participant was awarded a certificate upon successful completion of the training.
The Emali/Mulala session marked the fifth successful rollout of the soft skills programme, which has previously been conducted in Wote–Nziu, Ukia, Kathwonzeni, and Nduluku (Kiteta/Kisau Ward). The ongoing initiative reflects the county leadership’s commitment to empowering young people with the tools they need to thrive in both employment and entrepreneurship.
Also present during the event were Nicholas Nzioka, CECM for Devolution, Cosmas Mutunga Kaleli, MCA for Emali/Mulala Ward, and Nick Mbwika, Chairman of the hosting CTTI, all of whom lauded the initiative and reaffirmed their support for youth empowerment programs.
The training initiative continues to gain momentum as part of a broader effort to equip Makueni youth with skills that will secure their future in an increasingly competitive world.
