More than 500 Kinatwa Sacco drivers gathered at the Multi-Purpose Hall in Kitui Town to celebrate the Sacco’s remarkable achievements in road safety and service excellence.
Over the past two years, Kinatwa Sacco has been voted Kenya’s Best PSV Shuttle and Best Long-Distance Matatu Sacco. During this year’s Mashirika Day celebrations, the Sacco also won awards for Best Sacco in Market Penetration 2026 and Best Managed Matatu Sacco 2026.
Led by Chairman Mr. Wambua, the Sacco hosted a thanksgiving celebration to recognize drivers for maintaining high safety and compliance standards that have made Kinatwa one of the safest transport providers across the Lower Eastern region.
Officials from NTSA Lower Eastern and the Kitui Traffic Base commended the Sacco, describing it as a national model for road safety due to its strict compliance, controlled speeds, and outstanding safety record. Kitui Traffic Base Commander Mr. Hussein noted that no Kinatwa driver had been charged with a traffic offence in the past year.
Mr. Wambua thanked the drivers for their dedication and announced new initiatives, including a drivers’ savings and credit scheme to help them own matatus, as well as personal accident and medical insurance through CIC Insurance.
He also revealed plans to expand the Sacco’s operations by acquiring lorries for parcel transport and Scania buses for cross-border services to Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
