Shame in Kinanie : MCA Turns Into TikTok Star and WhatsApp Forwarder as Governor Wavinya Delivers 110 Projects for his Residents

Residents of Kinanie Ward have sharply criticized their area MCA, Francis Kavyu, accusing him of neglecting his voters and aligning himself with opposition leaders in Machakos to frustrate Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s administration.

The locals lament that instead of championing their interests in the Assembly, Kavyu has turned into a “WhatsApp forwarder and TikTok entertainer,” wasting valuable time in political theatrics while their needs go unrepresented.

“Hon. Kavyu was elected to speak for us, but nowadays we only see him forwarding propaganda messages and being used to fight our governor. He has abandoned the people who entrusted him with leadership,” said one resident.

The outrage comes at a time when Governor Wavinya Ndeti has been praised for delivering long-overdue development to Kinanie Ward. A report by the Machakos County Government shows that at least 110 transformative projects have been completed in the area since she took office.

In education, new ECDE classrooms have been constructed in Nthuluni and Kimongo, easing congestion in dilapidated facilities. The health sector has received a boost through the construction of Kwa Mboo Dispensary, giving residents easier access to medical services.

Security and modern amenities have improved through the installation of solar-powered Mulika Mwizi lights at Makongeni, enhancing safety at night.

The biggest turnaround, however, has been in the roads sector, where major projects have opened up the once-impassable networks. Roads such as Daystar–Lukenya Resort, Samora–Mutungoni, Moria–Kilili Market, Kwa Mulandi access, Greenpark–Daystar, Kimongo–Kivaa, Sunshine Feeder Roads, and Mutungoni–Kinanie Market road have been graded and graveled, boosting trade, education, and healthcare access. The rehabilitation of Mto Mawe bridge has further improved year-round connectivity.

Community leaders have credited Governor Wavinya for ending years of neglect, with one elder in Daystar noting: “For years, we only heard promises during campaigns, but nothing was ever done. Today, under Governor Wavinya, we are finally seeing real development in our villages.”

As Kinanie residents celebrate these achievements, many are warning their MCA that 2027 may mark the end of his political career. “We no longer feel his presence. He has chosen to fight the governor instead of standing with us. His P.O. Box address will be his home come 2027,” another resident said.

By prioritizing service delivery over politics, Governor Wavinya has won the confidence of Kinanie people, who say her development scorecard speaks louder than the political theatrics dominating the Assembly.
