A cloud of fear and uncertainty has engulfed the Kalundu area of Kitui Town after the lifeless body of an unidentified middle-aged man was discovered early Monday morning beneath the Kalundu Bridge, along the busy Kitui-Machakos road.
The shocking discovery was made by early morning pedestrians who raised the alarm, prompting authorities to arrive at the scene within minutes. Residents watched in disbelief as police retrieved the body from beneath the bridge, an area often frequented by both locals and travelers.
The disturbing incident has left Kalundu residents shocked and uneasy, especially as the identity of the deceased remains unknown and no identification documents were found on him.
Local leaders have called on security agencies to intensify patrols in the area and ensure such incidents do not become a trend.
The body has been taken to Kitui County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem and possible identification by family or acquaintances.
As investigations continue, the residents of Kalundu remain on edge, anxiously waiting for answers.
