Waziri Generali Fredrick Kimanga Joins His Boss Dr. Julius Malombe in Matinyani to Bid Farewell to Bishop Joseph Mwongela’s Father

Waziri Generali Fredrick Kimanga, the Kitui County Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development and the incoming Kitui West MP, on Monday joined his boss, Kitui Governor Julius Malombe, and other leaders in Matinyani Ward, Kitui West Sub-County, to bid farewell to the late Mzee Maurice Mwongela Mbunzi.

The deceased was the father to Kitui Catholic Bishop Joseph Mwongela, who also serves as the Coadjutor Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Machakos.

The burial ceremony drew hundreds of mourners, including religious leaders, politicians and residents from across Kitui County and beyond, who gathered to pay their last respects to a man described as humble, disciplined and deeply rooted in faith.

Governor Malombe led the county leadership in conveying condolences to Bishop Mwongela and the entire bereaved family, praising the late Mzee Mwongela for raising a son who has devoted his life to serving the Church and humanity. The Governor emphasized the importance of strong family values and spiritual grounding in shaping responsible leadership in society.

Waziri Generali Kimanga accompanied the Governor throughout the ceremony in a show of solidarity and respect but did not address the mourners.

Leaders present eulogized the deceased as a respected elder who lived a life of integrity and service to the community. They urged the faithful to draw inspiration from his legacy and remain united in faith during moments of grief.

The ceremony was marked by prayers, hymns and emotional tributes as family, friends and leaders gathered to celebrate a life well lived and to offer support to Bishop Mwongela and his family during the difficult time of loss.
