Kitui South MP and UDA Kitui County Chairperson Hon. Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai, CBS, has hit back at Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua, accusing him of being selective in his criticism of development projects being undertaken by President William Ruto’s administration in Ukambani.
Nyamai questioned why the Senator would oppose or downplay national government projects while benefiting from similar infrastructure in his own rural home.
“Don’t be selfish. The road to your rural home is tarmacked, yet you do not want your fellow leaders and their rural homes to benefit from the same development,” Nyamai said.
Her remarks come after Wambua criticised the President over ongoing development projects in Ukambani, arguing that such projects are a right of taxpayers and should not be used for political mileage. Wambua has also said that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka could complete the projects if elected President.
Nyamai, however, maintained that residents should welcome development regardless of their political affiliations, arguing that the ongoing road construction and other national government projects should be completed for the benefit of ordinary Kenyans.
She further said the road project extending towards the area associated with the Wiper leader should not become a political battleground, insisting that President Ruto’s administration should complete projects already initiated in Ukambani.
“Development should unite us, not divide us. If a road reaches your rural home, why should you deny another rural community the same opportunity?” Nyamai posed.
