Emerging leadership that could disrupt politics in kitui west.

By mukwasi media

2027, cannot be business as usual. those are the sentiments expressed by Liz Mwathe yesterday at a fundraiser held for AIC Kaluluini, in Kyaani. speaking during the event, the upcoming leaders emphasized the need for change of guard to pave way for fresh ideas and new energy that is necessary to not only take the Constituency to a new level, but also for the much needed recalibration of the National assembly.

The upcoming politician who appears to have quietly earned the support of the local ‘who is who’ going by the overwhelming support of those who joined her for the event as well as those who sent their contribution through her, emphasized the need for a leader who is heavily networked and endowed with mobilization skills if the people are to realize the full benefits of representation.

Sighting the example of Mwingi West she wondered; “we often see leaders from neighboring Constituencies, rallying friends and colleagues (including those from other political camps) to events such as school harambees and church fundraisers to pool resources for their people. Doesn’t our leadership have friends or colleagues or networks that we could leverage on for the sake of our people?”

Political pundits opine that the current leadership may not have found serious competition yet, until the emergence of Ms Mwathe. ” Only a fellow woman can unseat the current MP. She enjoys alot of support from the women voters who have demonstrated in the past sympathy for own gender.” one voters is quoted as saying. “With a fellow woman now set to compete, Hon. Nyenze, will struggle to look for a new niche to defend her seat.” With voters now yearning for younger leadership and the Gen Z voter threatening to elect ‘change’

Hon. Nyenze faces declined favour and may have to try her fortunes elsewhere. Also present at the event was the local MCA Hon. Paul Maluki, Hon. Edith Nyenze, MP kitui west among other prominent figures.
