Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has lauded the tireless work of community health promoters, describing them as the “angels of the village,” during her State of the County Address at the county assembly chambers
Speaking to lawmakers and stakeholders, Governor Ndeti praised the 2,870 community healthcare promoters for their unwavering dedication in reaching households across the county. She revealed that these frontline workers have visited over 250,000 homes, offering vital support to the elderly, pregnant mothers, and children.
“These men and women are the angels in our villages. They walk from door to door ensuring that our communities are cared for,” the governor said. She also highlighted the county government’s commitment to supporting the promoters, noting that their monthly stipends have been consistently paid on time.
Governor Ndeti’s remarks come as part of a broader effort to recognize and strengthen grassroots healthcare services, emphasizing the critical role played by community health workers in improving public health outcomes.
The address underscored the county’s focus on healthcare, community welfare, and the importance of sustaining the efforts of those who work quietly but impactfully at the village level.
