Another Blow for Mbooni MP as Kalawa Residents Demand Answers Over Sh10 Million Bridge Project

Pressure is mounting on Mbooni Constituency MP Hon. Erustus Kivasu Nzioka following fresh allegations surrounding the controversial construction of the Kwa Ngewa Bridge, a project valued at Sh10 million. What was meant to be a critical lifeline for Kalawa residents has now turned into a political storm that is threatening to consume the MP’s leadership and re-election prospects.

Residents, local leaders, and political rivals are now openly questioning how the funds meant for the bridge were spent, accusing the MP of presiding over a process riddled with irregularities. According to leaders from the area, the tender for the project was allegedly awarded to a close relative of the MP, raising serious concerns over conflict of interest and abuse of office.

The situation escalated further after the former Mbooni MP publicly challenged the current legislator, alleging that the project failed to follow the Bill of Quantities (BQ) and that the work delivered on the ground was substandard and did not reflect the Sh10 million allocation. The former MP claimed that due process was ignored, resulting in what residents now describe as a “shoddy and unsafe structure” unworthy of the funds spent.

“This is not just about politics; it is about accountability and respect for taxpayers’ money,” said one senior leader from Kalawa who requested anonymity for fear of intimidation. “The people of Mbooni deserve a clear breakdown of how the money was used. Silence will not save anyone.”
Several leaders have gone further to accuse the MP of dishonesty, claiming that attempts to question the project have been met with threats and intimidation. They argue that such conduct is unacceptable and only deepens suspicion around the project.

As public anger grows, political observers note that the controversy could have far-reaching consequences for Hon. Kivasu Nzioka’s political future. Leaders on the ground warn that unless a transparent and independent audit of the Kwa Ngewa Bridge project is conducted, the MP risks losing the trust of the electorate.
“With these issues hanging over his head, 2027 looks extremely difficult for him,” said another local leader. “Mbooni voters are watching, and they will remember.”

For now, Kalawa residents continue to demand answers, accountability, and justice insisting that public funds must serve the public, not private interests. Whether the MP will break his silence and address the allegations head-on remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the pressure is no longer simmering it is boiling.
