Catholic Diocese of Kitui Launches 2026 Lenten Campaign at Holy Spirit Zombe Parish

The Catholic Diocese of Kitui officially launched its 2026 Diocesan Lenten Campaign at Holy Spirit Zombe Parish in a colourful and spiritually uplifting ceremony presided over by Rt. Rev. Joseph Mwongela.

The event brought together clergy, religious leaders, and faithful from across the diocese, marking the beginning of a sacred period of reflection, prayer, and renewal in the Christian calendar.

During the Lenten walk that preceded the main celebration, Bishop Mwongela highlighted the Week Four theme: Youth and Technology. He emphasized the critical role of technology in the lives of young people, urging them to embrace it responsibly and purposefully.

The Bishop encouraged the youth to utilize technology as a tool for personal growth, academic advancement, evangelization, and positive social impact. He cautioned against the misuse of digital platforms, warning that technology should not become a gateway to worldly distractions or harmful influences.

“Technology is a powerful gift of our time,” he said, noting that when used wisely, it could help young people strengthen their faith, connect meaningfully with others, and contribute constructively to society.

Bishop Mwongela reminded the youth that modern innovations should uplift their moral and spiritual values rather than compromise them. He called upon parents, guardians, and church leaders to guide young people in navigating the digital space with discernment and responsibility.

The launch set the tone for the Diocese’s Lenten activities, reinforcing the call for spiritual growth, discipline, and mindful engagement with contemporary challenges as Christians journeyed through the Lenten season.
