Commissioner Ben Muasya has stepped up efforts to advance development and education support in Kitui West following a consultative meeting with William Samoei Ruto.
During the meeting, Muasya reviewed progress on several national government projects aimed at improving livelihoods in the constituency. Among the key initiatives discussed was the construction of the ESP Market in Tulia, which is expected to provide traders with a modern trading environment and boost local commerce. Plans for the construction of a modern market in Kabati, set to be advertised soon, were also highlighted.
The meeting further examined the ongoing construction of 346 student hostel units at Kauwi Vocational Training Centre to enhance accommodation for trainees and strengthen technical education opportunities for youth.
Muasya also sought updates on the Last Mile Electricity Connection project, which continues to expand power access to households across the constituency. In addition, plans to tarmac the Katutu–Kwa Vonza Road were discussed, a project expected to improve transport and open up the area for economic growth.
On education matters, the commissioner intervened to support Syokithumbi Primary School after concerns emerged that the institution risked losing registration due to low enrolment. Following consultations with education officials, he secured food support aimed at encouraging young learners to return to school.
Muasya announced that six truckloads of food will be delivered to Kitui West on the 13th of this month to support schools and the community, alongside two canters of porridge flour for young children.
The initiatives underscore Muasya’s commitment to strengthening development and social welfare programs for residents of Kitui West.
