Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr has raised fresh concerns over the rampant scale of corruption in the country, warning that the magnitude of the vice poses a serious threat to accountability and good governance.
Speaking in response to recent remarks by President William Ruto on corruption within the Senate, Governor Mutula admitted that graft has long existed in the country but stressed that the shocking amounts now being revealed demand urgent action.
“Corruption has been there. I’m only surprised by the amounts. What the President said about the Senate is true. The issue is not whether corruption exists, but the scale at which it is happening. It is shocking, and it calls for accountability,” Governor Mutula stated.
