During the State of the County Address at the assembly chambers, Governor Wavinya Ndeti announced a major initiative aimed at boosting water supply and supporting local farmers.
Governor Ndeti revealed that her government had launched a plan to construct two weirs in each of the county’s 40 wards. The project was designed to strengthen small-scale irrigation, prevent soil erosion, and improve water retention in catchment areas.
She said the initiative would ensure communities had reliable access to water for farming and domestic use, while also promoting environmental conservation.
County officials welcomed the move, noting that the weirs would enhance irrigation capacity, protect the soil, and contribute to sustainable agricultural development across all wards.
The project forms part of the county government’s wider agenda to improve infrastructure, increase food security, and support economic growth through strategic water management.
