Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to opening up rural areas through improved road infrastructure, with a focus on boosting agriculture, strengthening market access and improving livelihoods for residents.
Governor Ndeti made the remarks after kicking off the Mitaboni Ward Development Tour, where she inspected ongoing works on the 4-kilometre Syauni – King’ong’oi Road. The road will connect Thinu to Mitaboni, improving accessibility and creating better links between farming communities and markets.
The Governor said the improved road will make it easier for farmers to transport agricultural produce, including coffee, avocado, macadamia and bananas, to markets. The project is expected to ease the movement of people and goods while reducing challenges associated with accessing markets and other essential services.
Governor Ndeti said her administration remains focused on implementing development projects that directly support economic activity and improve the lives of residents. By investing in rural road infrastructure, the county government is seeking to strengthen market linkages, support farmers and create an environment where agriculture can continue serving as a source of livelihoods and economic growth for the people of Mitaboni and the wider Machakos County.
