Governor Wavinya Ndeti Champions Youth Empowerment as Machakos Youth Service Trainees Sit NITA Exams

Machakos County has taken another significant step in advancing its youth empowerment agenda, as the second cohort of Machakos Youth Service (MYS) trainees undertakes the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) examinations across training centres in the county. The examinations mark a critical milestone for the young trainees, who have undergone intensive technical and vocational training under a program spearheaded by Governor Wavinya Ndeti. The initiative is part of the county’s broader strategy to equip youth with practical skills that directly align with labor market demands.

Upon successful completion of the examinations, candidates will be awarded nationally recognized certificates by NITA, validating their competencies and enhancing their employability. In a further demonstration of commitment to youth development, the county administration has pledged to provide graduates with tools of trade and intervention designed to ease their transition into the workforce and support entrepreneurship.Governor Ndeti has consistently emphasized the importance of not only training but also facilitating post-training opportunities for young people. Her administration’s integrated approach ensures that beneficiaries are empowered beyond certification, with tangible support systems that enable them to establish sustainable livelihoods.

“This program is about transforming lives,” the governor has reiterated in previous engagements. “We are equipping our youth with the skills, resources, and confidence they need to actively contribute to the economic growth of Machakos County.”

The Machakos Youth Service program continues to stand out as a flagship initiative, reflecting the county government’s unwavering dedication to addressing youth unemployment and fostering inclusive economic development. By investing in skills development and practical empowerment, the county is nurturing a generation of self-reliant, innovative, and economically active citizens.

As the trainees complete their examinations, optimism remains high that this cohort will join the ranks of skilled professionals and entrepreneurs driving progress across Machakos County.
