Residents of Kinyui Market and its surrounding areas are set to benefit from improved access to clean and reliable water following the commissioning of the Kinyui Market Borehole by Wavinya Ndeti, marking another milestone in her administration’s commitment to expanding water infrastructure across Machakos County.
The Governor officially commissioned the borehole after the successful completion of its solarization and water reticulation works, ensuring a sustainable and cost-effective water supply system that will serve both the market and neighbouring communities.
With a production capacity of 2,000 litres of water per hour, the borehole is expected to provide a dependable source of clean water to more than 1,500 households, significantly reducing the burden of water scarcity while improving sanitation, public health, and the overall quality of life for residents.
Speaking during the commissioning, Governor Wavinya Ndeti reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to investing in sustainable water infrastructure as a key pillar of socio-economic transformation. She noted that reliable access to clean water is fundamental to building healthy communities, supporting economic growth, and enhancing livelihoods across the county.
The Governor emphasized that the project will not only guarantee a steady supply of safe water for households but will also stimulate business activities at Kinyui Market by providing traders with a reliable water source for their daily operations. Nearby institutions will also benefit from the improved water access, strengthening service delivery and creating a more conducive environment for learning, healthcare, and commerce.
Governor Wavinya reiterated that her government remains focused on implementing practical and long-term solutions to address water challenges in every part of Machakos County. She noted that investments in solar-powered water projects are reducing operational costs while ensuring environmentally sustainable service delivery.
