Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to strengthening water security across Machakos County following an inspection of the Kwa Kitoi Dam in Matungulu East Ward, a key water project that is transforming the lives of more than 800 households.
The dam currently provides a reliable source of water for domestic use, irrigation and livestock, significantly improving livelihoods while supporting agricultural production and enhancing food security within the area.
During the inspection, Governor Wavinya announced plans to expand the dam before the onset of the next rainy season to increase its water storage capacity and ensure it captures more runoff water. She further revealed that her administration will implement a comprehensive water reticulation project to extend clean and reliable water supply to more households, enabling additional communities to benefit from the vital resource.
The Governor noted that expanding access to safe and dependable water remains a key pillar of her development agenda, emphasizing that strategic investments in water infrastructure are essential in addressing the challenges posed by climate change, supporting irrigation farming, improving livestock production and creating sustainable economic opportunities for residents.
Governor Wavinya reiterated that her administration will continue prioritising transformative water projects across the county as part of its broader commitment to improving the quality of life for residents, strengthening food security, and accelerating inclusive socio-economic development in every ward of Machakos County.
