The County Government of Machakos has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the welfare, health, and education of young learners through the continued implementation of its School Feeding Programme, a flagship initiative that is transforming Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) across the county.
Speaking on the programme, Governor Wavinya Ndeti said her administration is currently distributing food supplies to all ECDE centres across Machakos to ensure every child has access to nutritious meals that support healthy growth, enhance classroom concentration, and improve learning outcomes.
The Governor noted that the School Feeding Programme has become a critical pillar in strengthening ECDE by creating a conducive learning environment where children can thrive both academically and socially.
“My administration remains committed to improving the welfare and education of our young learners through the School Feeding Programme, a transformative initiative that continues to strengthen Early Childhood Development Education across Machakos County,” said Governor Wavinya.
She emphasized that providing nutritious meals in schools not only addresses the nutritional needs of learners but also encourages regular school attendance and boosts enrolment in ECDE centres across the county.
According to the Governor, the programme has already recorded significant gains, with more children enrolling in school and attending classes consistently, giving them a stronger foundation for lifelong learning and development.
