Machakos County Launches Bursary Public Participation Forums to Support Learners

Public participation forums and the issuance of County Bursary application forms for the 2025/2026 financial year have officially commenced across Machakos County, marking a significant step towards enhancing access to education for needy learners.

The ongoing exercise has witnessed large numbers of applicants turning up at their respective Ward Administrators’ offices to complete the application process. The initiative is aimed at supporting students in secondary schools, universities, Vocational Training Centres (VTCs), and other learning institutions across the county.

The program is being coordinated by officers from the Department of Education, ECDE, Youth, Vocational and Skills Training in collaboration with Ward Administrators. The team is working to ensure that the exercise is conducted transparently and fairly, while also guaranteeing that deserving and vulnerable students benefit from the bursary funds.

Under the leadership of H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti, the County Government of Machakos has continued to demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting equitable access to education. Governor Ndeti has consistently emphasized the importance of investing in education as a key pillar in empowering youth and strengthening the county’s human capital development.

The Governor’s administration has prioritized education support programs, with the bursary initiative forming a crucial component of efforts to reduce school dropouts and ease the financial burden on families. Through such initiatives, the county government aims to ensure that no deserving student is left behind due to financial constraints.

The public participation exercise and bursary application process, which officially began on February 11, 2026, will run for three days and is expected to conclude on February 13, 2026. County officials have encouraged eligible applicants to visit their Ward Administrators’ offices within the stipulated period to take part in the process.

Residents have welcomed the initiative, terming it as a timely intervention that continues to uplift learners and strengthen access to quality education across Machakos County.
