Machakos County has been ranked 9th nationally among Kenya’s top-performing counties in the 2025 County Budget Transparency Survey conducted by Bajeti Hub, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources.
The recognition underscores the County Government’s continued efforts to strengthen public financial management systems, enhance citizen engagement, and ensure that public resources are utilized efficiently to improve service delivery and accelerate sustainable development.
Further demonstrating its leadership in budget transparency, Machakos County attained a 100 percent score in the 2023/2024 County Budget Review and Outlook Paper (CBROP), earning national recognition for publishing the most comprehensive County Budget Review and Outlook Paper in the country.
The achievement reflects the County Government’s dedication to open governance under the leadership of H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti, EGH, whose administration has prioritized accountability, fiscal responsibility, and meaningful public participation in development planning and budgeting processes.
Speaking on the recognition, county officials noted that the ranking is a testament to the collective efforts of county staff, development partners, stakeholders, and residents who continue to champion transparency and accountability in governance.
By embracing open budgeting practices and strengthening public access to financial information, Machakos County has fostered greater public trust while ensuring that government programs and investments deliver tangible benefits to wananchi.
