‎Machakos Governor Reaffirms Commitment to Climate Resilience at ARCA Project Launch ‎

A significant step toward strengthening climate resilience and securing water resources in Kenya was marked with the launch of the ARCA Project, an initiative aimed at enhancing community resilience and water security in the Upper Athi River Catchment Area.

‎The project was officially unveiled in Nairobi during a ceremony presided over by Musalia Mudavadi, bringing together national and county leaders, development partners, and key stakeholders in the water and environment sectors.

‎Machakos County Governor H.E. Wavinya Ndeti took centre stage in reaffirming her administration’s steadfast commitment to sustainable water management and climate-resilient development.

‎Represented at the event by the County Executive Committee Member for Water, Mr. Onesmus Kuyu, and the Chief Officer for Water and Climate Change, Mr. Benedict Ngumbau, the Governor emphasized the county’s readiness to collaborate with national agencies and partners to safeguard vital water resources.

‎The four-year initiative, funded by the Green Climate Fund and jointly implemented by the National Environment Management Authority, Water Resources Authority, and the Kenya Meteorological Department, was designed to strengthen adaptive capacity and protect critical ecosystems across Machakos, Kiambu, Nairobi, and Nyandarua counties.

‎Through her representatives, Governor Ndeti underscored Machakos County’s commitment to integrated water resource management and proactive climate action, noting that partnerships under the ARCA Project would play a pivotal role in enhancing community resilience and ensuring long-term water security for residents.
