The Governor of Machakos County, H.E. Wavinya Ndeti, has reaffirmed her administration’s unwavering commitment to empowering young people through innovation, skills development, and access to emerging digital opportunities.

Speaking during the signing of a transformative Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Governor Ndeti underscored that her government remains youth-focused and determined to equip young people with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly competitive and technology-driven economy.

Through the Department of Digital Economy, the Governor led the county in formalizing a strategic partnership with Kilimall International Limited. The collaboration is set to empower at least 1,000 youths across Machakos County through structured and practical training in e-commerce and digital marketing.

Under the initiative, participating youths will receive hands-on training in online store operations, digital marketing strategies, customer engagement, branding, and business growth techniques. Beyond skills acquisition, the programme will open doors to a national marketplace via the Kilimall platform, enabling young entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products countrywide.

The partnership further provides mentorship and technical support to ensure participants can effectively translate their digital skills into sustainable employment and thriving enterprises. This move is expected to significantly enhance youth participation in the digital economy while reducing unemployment levels in the county.

Governor Ndeti emphasized that her administration is not only focused on training but also on creating an enabling environment for innovation and enterprise growth. The County Government will mobilize participants, provide training venues, and facilitate the necessary support structures. Kilimall, on its part, will offer technical expertise, structured training modules, and critical market linkages.

Both parties will jointly oversee the implementation of the programme, track trained participants, monitor onboarded businesses, and continuously evaluate progress to ensure the initiative achieves its intended impact. The collaboration also aims to position Machakos County as a leading hub for e-commerce and digital transformation in the region.

Governor Ndeti reiterated that her administration remains open to meaningful partnerships that create tangible opportunities for the youth and accelerate the broader socio-economic development agenda of Machakos County.
