Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe on Wednesday presided over the swearing-in ceremony of three senior county officers in a move aimed at strengthening service delivery and enhancing efficiency in the county administration.
The officers who took their oaths of office are Agnes Mulewa, who assumes the position of County Secretary; Timothy Mwange Kyalo, sworn in as County Attorney; and Christopher Ombunya, who takes up the role of Secretary to the County Public Service Board.
The ceremony, held at the county headquarters, marked a significant milestone in the county’s governance structure, with Governor Malombe expressing confidence in the newly appointed officials. He noted that their appointment comes at a crucial time when the county government is intensifying efforts to improve accountability, transparency, and professionalism in public service.
Governor Malombe emphasized that the Office of the County Secretary plays a central role in coordinating county operations and ensuring the smooth implementation of policies and programmes. He said Agnes Mulewa’s experience and leadership skills would be instrumental in enhancing administrative efficiency.
On the appointment of Timothy Mwange Kyalo as County Attorney, the governor underscored the importance of sound legal counsel in safeguarding the county’s interests. He expressed optimism that the new County Attorney will provide firm and reliable legal guidance to support policy formulation and protect public resources.
The governor also lauded the appointment of Christopher Ombunya as Secretary to the County Public Service Board, describing the office as critical in promoting meritocracy, integrity, and professionalism within the county workforce.
Dr. Malombe urged the three officers to uphold the Constitution, serve with diligence, and remain committed to the people of Kitui. He reiterated his administration’s dedication to building strong institutions that are responsive, transparent, and accountable to wananchi.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by senior county officials, members of the County Assembly, and other stakeholders, who welcomed the new appointees and pledged support as they embark on their respective mandates.
