Kenya Railways Managing Director Philip Mainga has urged leaders from Makueni County to embrace unity, resilience and a shared development agenda, saying that enduring challenges is the first step towards achieving lasting success.
Speaking during the Kalawa Professional Forum, Mainga encouraged leaders and residents to “first accept the pain” before expecting success, emphasizing that patience, sacrifice and teamwork are essential ingredients for meaningful development.
The Kenya Railways MD praised the development projects initiated by President William Ruto’s administration across Makueni County, noting that the government’s commitment to infrastructure and economic transformation is steadily changing the lives of residents. He called on local leaders and wananchi to continue supporting President Ruto to enable the implementation of more development projects in the county.
Mainga, regarded as one of President Ruto’s trusted allies, said the government’s development agenda requires the collective support of leaders and citizens to ensure every part of the country benefits from ongoing national investments.
The Kenya Railways MD further highlighted the tarmacking of the road leading to Tseikuru, the rural home of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka. He said the project demonstrated President Ruto’s commitment to serving all Kenyans regardless of political affiliation, noting that the road reaches the home of one of his fiercest political opponents. Mainga contrasted this with what he described as years of unfulfilled expectations from leaders who had previously served in government, urging residents to acknowledge the ongoing development initiatives.
Describing himself as a steadfast supporter of President Ruto, Mainga appealed to leaders and wananchi to continue backing the Kenya Kwanza administration to enable the implementation of more development projects across Makueni County and the wider Ukambani region.

Also present at the forum was former Mbooni Member of Parliament Hon. Michael Kisoi Munyao, who reiterated his support for President Ruto’s development agenda in Makueni County. Kisoi, widely regarded by his supporters as the leading contender for the Mbooni parliamentary seat in the next General Election, called for equitable distribution of national development projects and urged residents to remain united in pursuit of progress.
The Kalawa Professional Forum brought together professionals, political leaders and community stakeholders to deliberate on the development challenges facing Kalawa and the wider Mbooni Constituency while exploring practical solutions aimed at accelerating socio-economic growth.
