Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. has pledged increased funding to expand the Huduma Mashinani Program, reinforcing efforts to bring essential government services closer to residents in Makueni County.
The governor made the commitment on Thursday while hosting Benjamin Chilumo, Chief Executive Officer of Huduma Kenya, during a meeting to review the program’s progress across the county.
Governor Mutula praised the initiative as a transformative approach to service delivery, noting that it has significantly improved access to government services at the community level.
According to county officials, more than 63,000 residents from 23 wards have already benefited from the program. Through the initiative, locals can conveniently access 23 government services, including birth and death certificates, registration with the Social Health Authority (SHA), group registrations, voter registration by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), driving licences, civil marriage registration, and certificates of good conduct.
Mr. Chilumo assured the county government of Huduma Kenya’s continued collaboration, revealing plans to establish dedicated Huduma Kenya service desks within county government offices to further improve service delivery.
Speaker Douglas Mbilu of the Makueni County Assembly also supported the governor’s proposal for increased funding, emphasizing that the program has helped residents avoid long and costly journeys in search of government services.
County leaders say expanding the Huduma Mashinani initiative will further strengthen access to critical services and improve the overall efficiency of public service delivery in Makueni.
