Malombe’s Health Agenda Gains Momentum as Kitui Receives KSh 48 Million Medical Supplies

Julius Malombe’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services has received a major boost after Kitui County received essential medicines and medical commodities worth KSh 48 million to support health facilities across the region.

The consignment, supplied by the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), was procured during the third quarter and is expected to replenish existing stocks while improving the availability of critical medical supplies in hospitals, health centres and dispensaries throughout the county.

County health officials said the delivery reflects the county government’s continued focus on improving access to quality healthcare services for residents, a key priority under Governor Malombe’s administration.

The supplies were officially received by Chief Officer for Drugs and Medical Supplies Aggrey Kamba on behalf of the County Executive Committee Member for Health and Sanitation Ruth Koki.

Speaking during the handover, Kamba said the county government remains committed to ensuring public health facilities are adequately stocked with essential medicines and medical commodities. He explained that the new consignment would help sustain the availability of crucial drugs across health facilities and guarantee residents continuous access to quality healthcare services.

At the same time, the Medical Superintendent of Kitui County Referral Hospital, Dr. Mungai, confirmed that the Social Health Authority (SHA) is currently working effectively for both inpatient and outpatient services at the facility.

Dr. Mungai noted that several key services, including X-ray diagnostics, renal care and cancer treatment, are already being supported under the scheme, helping improve access to specialized healthcare for patients.

Health officials indicated that the medical supplies will now be distributed to health facilities across Kitui County to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services and strengthen the delivery of essential medical care to residents.

The latest development is expected to further advance Governor Malombe’s broader health agenda, which prioritizes improved medical infrastructure, reliable drug supply and accessible healthcare services for communities across the county.
