Mbooni MP Accused of Neglect, Favouritism and Political Confrontations

By Staff Reporter

Fresh political heat is mounting against Mbooni Member of Parliament Hon. Erustus Kivasu Nzioka after local leaders accused him of neglecting large sections of the constituency while concentrating development in areas close to his home.

According to several key leaders from Mbooni, the MP has failed to equitably distribute development projects, leaving some regions marginalized and forgotten. One outspoken leader, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, cited Katikomu Primary School as a clear example of alleged neglect and poor leadership.

The leader claimed that Katikomu Primary School has no perimeter fence, no gate, and lacks basic infrastructure, with classrooms reportedly being constructed entirely through donor support. It was further alleged that the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) has not undertaken any meaningful project at the school, despite it being a public institution. The leaders also pointed out that Katikomu Primary School is the only school in Mbooni Constituency without electricity, a situation they described as unacceptable in this era.

They argued that the condition of the school reflects a wider pattern of neglect in certain parts of the constituency and warned that residents were growing increasingly frustrated. The leaders stated that Mbooni urgently needs a leader who will serve all areas fairly and prioritize development across the entire constituency, rather than favoring specific regions.

In addition to the development concerns, the MP was also accused of abandoning his legislative and development role to engage in political fights with fellow leaders. The leaders alleged that instead of focusing on service delivery, Hon. Kivasu has been involved in public confrontations, citing a recent burial ceremony of the late Kalia, a councillor from Kiteta Kisau Ward.

During the burial, it was claimed that the MP exchanged bitter words with leaders present, including the Member of County Assembly for Kiteta Kisau Ward, an incident that reportedly shocked mourners and was viewed as disrespectful and divisive.

The leaders warned that such conduct undermines unity and distracts from the real issues affecting residents, including education, infrastructure, and access to basic services. They maintained that Mbooni residents deserve leadership that is focused, respectful, and committed to development rather than political wrangles.

As the 2027 political season slowly takes shape, the accusations are expected to intensify pressure on the MP, with local leaders insisting that accountability, inclusivity, and tangible development must take precedence in Mbooni Constituency.
