Kitui County Lands, Housing and Urban Development Minister and incoming Kitui West Member of Parliament, Waziri Generali Fredrick Kimanga, on Saturday attended a thanksgiving and retirement ceremony in honour of a long-serving public servant at Kithui Village, Kiomo Kyethani Location, Mwingi West Sub-County, Kitui County.
The ceremony celebrated the retirement of Madam Everlyne Muthethya, who served as a secretary during Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s first term and continued with the same dedication into his second term. Her long and consistent service earned her praise from leaders and residents who described her as a dependable and committed public officer.
Speaking during the event, Waziri Kimanga paid glowing tribute to Madam Muthethya, describing her as a disciplined, hardworking and virtuous public servant whose conduct set her apart throughout her years of service.
“Madam Everlyne Muthethya possessed all the virtues of a dedicated public servant. She was disciplined, hardworking and highly professional. Her commitment and loyalty ensured continuity and efficiency in service delivery across both administrations,” Kimanga said.
The County Minister emphasized that civil servants like Madam Muthethya play a critical behind-the-scenes role in supporting leadership and ensuring smooth operations within government institutions. He noted that her long service under two consecutive terms of Governor Malombe was a clear reflection of trust, competence and integrity.
Kimanga, who is also the incoming Member of Parliament for Kitui West Constituency, encouraged young professionals and public officers to emulate Muthethya’s values of discipline, integrity and selfless service, noting that such virtues are essential for effective governance and national development.
Family members thanked Waziri Kimanga and other guests for honouring Madam Muthethya, describing her retirement as the close of a fulfilling chapter defined by service to the people of Kitui County.
The thanksgiving ceremony, held at her rural home, was marked by prayers, speeches and songs of praise as residents celebrated a career that left a lasting legacy in public service.
