Waziri Generali Fredrick Kimanga Pays Tribute to Late Rev. Deacon Dennis Maithya in Kitui West

Kitui West incoming Member of Parliament, Waziri Generali Fredrick Kimanga, on Wednesday led residents and local leaders in condoling with the family of the late Rev. Deacon Dennis Maithya at his rural home in Kauma, Matinyani Ward, Kitui West Constituency.

Speaking during the condolence visit, Kimanga expressed deep sorrow over the untimely death of the young cleric, noting that the loss had personally affected him as he knew the late Deacon Dennis Maithya on a personal level. He described the late Deacon as a humble, disciplined, and devoted servant of God whose commitment to faith and community service stood out despite his short period of ministry.

“This loss is painful not only to the Church and the family, but also to us who knew him personally. Deacon Dennis was a man of great promise, humility, and strong faith. His passing has left a deep void in our hearts,” Kimanga said.

The late Rev. Deacon Dennis Maithya passed away on 23rd January 2026 following a tragic road accident along the Mwingi–Nguni Road, barely weeks after his ordination. He had been ordained on 8th December 2025 and was serving at St. Patrick’s Parish, Nguni, at the time of his death.
Kimanga lauded the Catholic Church for its role in nurturing values of faith, discipline, and service among the youth, noting that the late Deacon’s life, though short, was impactful. He urged young people across Kitui West to draw inspiration from Deacon Dennis’s dedication to serving God and humanity with commitment and humility.

The incoming MP also assured the bereaved family of continued support and solidarity during the difficult period, calling on leaders and residents of Kitui West to stand together in moments of grief, prayer, and compassion.
According to burial arrangements, Rev. Deacon Dennis Maithya will be laid to rest on Monday, 2nd February 2026. The Burial Mass will be presided over by Bishop Joseph Mwongela at St. Patrick’s Mutune Parish grounds, after which interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Mutune Cemetery.

Vigil Masses are scheduled for Sunday, 1st February 2026, at 5.00 p.m. at the Cathedral in Museve, as well as Kauma (Kasyala Parish), Nguni, Mutune, and Nguutani Parishes.
As the Kitui West community continues to mourn, leaders led by Waziri Generali Fredrick Kimanga have called for unity, prayer, and compassion, honoring the life and service of a young cleric whose journey was tragically cut short at the prime of his calling.
