The Speaker of the Makueni County Assembly, Douglas Mbilu, has called on the Kamba community to remain united and rally behind Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, saying the Wiper leader has the experience and track record needed to lead Kenya.
Speaking during a burial ceremony for his in-law in Nzambani Ward, Kitui East Constituency in Kitui County, Mbilu said the country requires tested leadership, arguing that Kalonzo stands out as a credible presidential candidate.
Mbilu noted that as the leader of the Wiper Patriotic Front, Kalonzo has demonstrated integrity and consistency in public service over the years, qualities he said make him the most suitable leader to steer the country forward.
He urged the Kamba community and the wider opposition to close ranks and support Kalonzo’s leadership ambitions, saying unity would strengthen the region’s political voice on the national stage.
At the same time, the Speaker emphasized the importance of education, calling on parents to remain committed to supporting their children’s academic journeys. Mbilu said education remains the most powerful tool for transforming families and communities.
“Parents must prioritize education for their children because it is the foundation of a better future,” he said.
Mbilu also took a swipe at the administration of President William Samoei Ruto, claiming that the government has failed to deliver meaningful development for Kenyans.
According to him, the opposition remains united and convinced that Kalonzo is best placed to offer the country an alternative leadership.
He further claimed that calls for President Ruto to serve only one term are gaining momentum, alleging that the President has yet to fulfill many of the promises he made to Kenyans.
Mbilu argued that instead of delivering tangible results, the President continues to make ambitious promises about transforming the country, including comparisons to Singapore, which he said do not reflect the realities facing ordinary Kenyans.
The Speaker reiterated that Kenyans deserve accountable leadership and expressed confidence that the opposition, under Kalonzo’s leadership, can offer a better path for the nation.
