Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to expanding access to clean and reliable water by highlighting the transformative impact of the Kwa Metho Weir, a key water infrastructure project that is improving livelihoods and driving sustainable development in Matungulu.
The Kwa Metho Weir, constructed along the Maindaindu River in Uamani Sub location, is one of seven weirs developed by the county government to strengthen water security across the area. The project is now providing a dependable water supply to more than 2,000 households, significantly improving access to water for domestic use while supporting irrigation, livestock production, and other income-generating activities.
Governor Wavinya noted that access to water remains a critical pillar of her administration’s development agenda, emphasizing that investments in water infrastructure are creating healthier communities, enhancing agricultural productivity, and stimulating local economic growth. She said the project directly advances her administration’s vision of “Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni” by empowering residents to increase food production and improve household incomes through sustainable farming.
The Governor further commended the collaborative efforts that made the project a reality, expressing gratitude to APA Insurance, Utooni Developers, and SCIFORD for partnering with the County Government in delivering the transformative initiative.
She reaffirmed that her administration will continue investing in strategic water projects across Machakos County to ensure more communities have access to safe, reliable, and sustainable water, while accelerating agricultural growth, improving livelihoods, and fostering inclusive socio economic development.
