Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has strengthened the fisheries sector in Ekalakala Ward following the issuance of a motorboat and engine to the Ekalakala Beach Management Unit (BMU) to enhance regular patrols, improve safety and promote responsible fishing practices. The investment is aimed at empowering local fishing communities to protect their fishing grounds, improve security on the waters and ensure sustainable management of fisheries resources.
In a further boost to fish production and livelihoods, Governor Wavinya also issued 10,000 Tilapia fingerlings to the BMU to support fish farming and expand economic opportunities for local residents. The governor reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to supporting fish farmers through targeted interventions and the provision of essential resources to increase productivity, improve incomes and strengthen the fisheries sector across Machakos County.
