Wavinya Commissions Fish Cold Storage Facility to Boost Farmers’ Incomes.

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has commissioned the Ekalakala Fish Cold Storage Facility in Ekalakala Ward, a major investment aimed at strengthening fish farming, reducing post harvest losses and improving the incomes of local fish farmers. The facility, with a storage capacity of one tonne of fish per day, will enable farmers to preserve their catch, maintain fish quality and access better markets. It will serve fish harvested from dams constructed across the ward and Masinga Dam, providing a reliable solution to the challenges of fish preservation and marketing.Governor Wavinya reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to supporting fish farmers through investments in modern facilities, provision of essential inputs and other interventions to increase fish production and improve livelihoods. The initiative forms part of her Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni vision, aimed at strengthening food security, creating economic opportunities and putting more money in the pockets of Machakos residents.ENDS///…
