Former Mbooni Member of Parliament and the incoming people’s choice leader, Hon. Michael Kisoi Munyao, has welcomed the progress towards the long-awaited tarmacking of the Wote–Kako–Kavingo–Ngoluni Road, saying the project is now closer than ever to becoming a reality as the tendering process enters its final stages.
Hon. Kisoi noted that the road project was among the key development commitments made by President William Samoei Ruto during a meeting they held in March following his request. He expressed satisfaction that the government’s promise is steadily being fulfilled, describing the project as a major breakthrough for the people of Kako and the wider Mbooni region.
He observed that for many years, residents have endured immense challenges due to the poor condition of the road, particularly patients and expectant mothers seeking medical services at the Kako Health Centre. Once completed, the road is expected to significantly improve transport, enhance access to healthcare and other essential services, stimulate trade, and unlock new economic opportunities across the region.
Hon. Kisoi spoke while attending the official handover of the newly completed Kako Maternity Wing to the County Government of Makueni, alongside Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili and officials from the Ministry of Health. He lauded the completion of the modern maternity facility, which has been fully equipped, including the installation of a powerhouse, saying it marks a major milestone in strengthenin
g maternal and child healthcare services.
Addressing residents during the event, Hon. Kisoi urged wananchi to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA) to benefit from the government’s Universal Health Coverage programme. He encouraged members of the public to ignore misleading information aimed at discouraging registration, emphasizing that the initiative is designed to ensure affordable and quality healthcare for all Kenyans.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the national government to champion development projects that improve livelihoods and ensure no community is left behind.
The road project and the commissioning of the new maternity wing have been widely welcomed by residents, who believe the two initiatives will greatly enhance healthcare delivery, connectivity, and socio-economic development in the Mbooni region.
